HIFU Non-Surgical Face Lift

A High Intensity Focused Ultrasound facial, otherwise known as ‘HIFU’ for short, is a non-invasive treatment targeting facial ageing. It is commonly referred to as the, ‘non-surgical facelift’ due to its transformational results.

HIFU uses ultrasound to create heat within the deep layers of the skin. This heat then causes targeted micro-trauma to the cellular structure of the skin. Whilst this may seem counterintuitive, the damage is actually essential to stimulate the body’s innate ability to repair the cells by producing more collagen, that it would otherwise not produce. Collagen is the protein in our body that gives the skin its structure and elasticity. The surge in collagen results in tighter, firmer skin with less visible wrinkles. The HIFU device targets the upper dermis 1.5mm, lower dermis 3.00mm and most importantly, the SMAS layer at 4.5mm. The SMAS is the layer that sits between your muscle and your fat layer. The SMAS is the actual layer that a plastic surgeon would pull and tighten whilst performing a surgical face-lift.

What does the treatment look like? There are no special pre-treatment preparations required prior to having a HIFU facial, however, it is advised to remove all make-up products from the treatment area before coming in for treatment.

At your scheduled appointment, you will be required to complete a medical consent form, we will discuss the treatment with you, and we will be able to answer any questions you may have. Pre-treatment photographs will be taken to ensure we have a record of your results. The treatment takes place while you lay down on the bed, and the Advanced Therapist gently cleanses and tones the treatment area. The area is then marked with a white pencil, for optimum precision, and a clear ultrasound gel is applied in preparation for the treatment. The HIFU handheld device is then placed onto the skin, and remains stationary whilst the ultrasound energy is delivered in short pulses. Once the sufficient energy is applied, the device is moved along to an adjacent area, and this process is repeated for around 30-90 (area dependant) until all the suitable areas have been covered. When the treatment has been completed, the gel is removed and a soothing cream is applied onto the skin. All relevant after-care is discussed, although you are free to go home straight after the treatment, and resume your daily activities as normal.
