Chemical Peels

Chemical peels are one of the oldest cosmetic procedures in the world. Today, chemical peels are amongst the most popular and widely recognised methods of improving the health and appearance of skin, by removing dead skin cells and actively stimulating new cell growth and collagen production, helping to reveal fresher, clearer and brighter skin. The powerful blend of ingredients in skin peels work to reduce the appearance of open pores, remove dead skin cells, target blemishes, acne and pigmentation, and visibly reduce fine lines and wrinkles. Our special range of peels for sensitive skin also works amazing for rosacea, as part of our rosacea management plan.

Chemical peels vary in depth, from very superficial to deep, although several light depth peels can often achieve similar results to one deep peel treatment, which may require significant downtime. We only offer light “lunchtime” peels, which provide effective. Subtle improvement over time. The outermost layer of the skin is removed, but your skin does not ‘peel’ as you often see in movies! Recovery from this type of peels is within hours and little to no downtime is experienced.

CLINICARE AHA/BHA Chemical Peels

CLINICARE superficial peels contain a mixture of glycolic, lactic and salicylic acids, amongst others. We use two targeted ranges for specific skin indications:

CLINICARE GLOW AHA Peel

The CLINICARE Glow AHA Peel is a superficial glycolic and mandelic acid peel effective in treating hyperpigmentation, age spots, sun damage and dull, tired skin. It does this by removing the upper layer of the epidermis (pH 1.7). This stimulates cell renewal, inhibits melanin synthesis, brightens the skin, evens out discolouration and is safe to use on all Fitzpatrick skin types (including darker skin). We expertly mix the strength of the peel to suit your skin. The peel is highly tolerable with minimal side effects. It is also 100% vegan and cruelty free.

The Glow Peel is suitable for:

• Photo damaged skin
• Hyperpigmentation
• Melasma

• Enlarged pores, dull, sallow skin colour
• Ageing skin

Ingredients: Glycolic Acid 28% - The GLOW Peel contains the smallest and most effective alpha hydroxyl acid, derived from sugar cane. It safely removes the outer layer of dead skin cells, encouraging new cells and collagen. Mandelic acid 7% - This alpha hydroxyl acid is derived from bitter almonds. It has depigmenting properties, inhibits melanin synthesis, exfoliates and rejuvenates the skin. *Kojic Acid 5% *- Kojic acid is derived from a variety of fungi and organic substances and is used to diminish dark areas resulting from excessive pigmentation in the skin. It inhibits the activity of tyrosinase and prevents the formation of melanin. *Alpha-Arbutin 3% *- Alpha-Arbutin acts by supressing melanin tyrosinase activity and thus prevents the synthesis of melanocytes. It works synergistically with Kojic acid to enhance the brightening effect.

CLINICARE PURE BHA Peel

The CLINICARE PURE Peel is a superficial acid peel suitable for acne treatment and the improvement of skin texture. It will remove the upper layers of the epidermis (pH 2.4). The formula contains azelaic acid, as well as salicylic, lactic and glycolic acids.

This peel stimulates cell renewal and is suitable for treating inflammatory and non-inflammatory acne, blackheads, comedones, enlarged pores and the improvement of skin texture. It also helps keep pores clean and unclogged and has keratolytic, anti-blackhead, anti-inflammatory and antiseptic properties, which makes it ideal for those with rosacea. This peel is suitable for Fitzpatrick skin types 1 to 4. It is highly tolerable with minimal side effects and is also 100% vegan and cruelty free.

Ingredients: Azelaic acid 16% - Azelaid acid has been shown to be highly effective in the treatment of acne and rosacea, and has become a staple in our clients’ protocols for rosacea management, with amazing results. It kills acne bacteria in existing blemishes and is often an over-the-counter option for treating cystic acne and prevents future whiteheads and blackheads from forming. Azelaic acid also lightens acne scars as well as melasma, and its anti-inflammatory properties calm rosacea and redness. It is safe for all skin types. Lactic acid 14% - The mildest of alpha hydroxy acids, it has water binding properties and stimulates collagen synthesis. Glycolic acid 14% - Exfoliates the epidermis, promotes epidermolysis, disperses basal layer melanin and stimulates the growth of new skin. Glycolic acid also reduces the amount of surface skin oil. Salicylic acid 2% - Derived from willow tree bark, this has keratolytic, comedolytic, anti-inflammatory and antiseptic properties. Its lipophilic properties enable the salicylic acid to penetrate and dissolve sebum, making it a highly effective treatment for acne. In addition, it has anti-inflammatory properties which makes it suitable for sensitive skin conditions, such as rosacea. Salicylic acid has a mild anaesthetic effect compared to AHAs.
