How does the Carbon Laser Facial Work?

1. The aesthetician will cleanse your skin with a cleanser suitable for your skin type, and analyse your skin, whilst discussing any skin concerns you may have. Liquid carbon is then applied over the face, making sure it is well adhered to the skin. It will look like you are wearing a mud mask! The carbon is left to dry for around 10 minutes. During this time, the carbon binds itself to any dead skin and contaminants, and absorbs excess sebum (oil). Your eyes are protected with special shields, which are comfortable to wear.
2. One dry, a Q-Switched Nd:YAG laser is passed over the skin in quick pulses. The specific wavelength of the laser light used is attracted to the carbon, which vaporises the carbon, shattering away the oil, contaminants and epidermal keratinocytes which it has absorbed, with it. You will hear a soft snapping noise as the laser destroys the carbon. You may feel a very slight tingling in the skin.
3. Once all the carbon has been removed by the laser, your skin may be gently cleansed, and skin finishing products will be applied, consisting of a serum, hydrating moisturiser and an SPF.
